CHILD PROTECTION AND ITS IMPACT

In the times that we have come to live in, it is important to protect children from all the forms of violence that are present in the society such as those of violence, abuse and exploitation in different settings that includes family, community, groups, and society. A good society is imperative to ensure that the children are given all their rights which are due to them. It is important to grant children their rights as it is integral to the holistic development of children and it enables their all around development along with the development of the nation as a whole.

But unfortunately,  the sight of children exploitation in India is so common that we can find children selling flowers on the streets, some selling magazines at the traffic lights. They are being deprived of the basic needs and are also deprived of the secured family life. This leads to the denial of the basic right of the children which are health, education, nutrition requirements, living, and development. It is a painful sight to see the children in vulnerable and difficult situations. There are several ways in which the children are being exploited which range from sexual exploitation to being trafficked for labour, exposure to abuse and violence is also largely seen.

Gender- biased sex selection is also a threat that is prevalent in the society which is a major challenge to child protection in India. Child marriage is another threat to the girls in the country which prevents girls from taking admission into schools, and prevents them from developing essential skills for their growth and development.

Protection of children from all forms of violence is must. When proper protection of children is ensured, this leads to proper growth of the children and leads to over all development of the child. While in the unprotected environment there are chances of the children getting trapped in the cycle of violence, abuse, and exploitation.

The UNICEF als ensures that a protective environment is must for all the children by establishing a responsible system which addresses the issues of the violations of children’s rights. An atmosphere for the frank and open discussions of the children must be provided where they can come up with their problems. The basic and targeted services of health and education must be imparted to children so that do not become the easy victims of the exploiters. Appropriate legislative measures must be ensured which would lead to the implementation of the laws for the protection of children in better ways which would keep them away from exploitation and violence.

Though the child protection sees the invisible aspects but it has an enormous impact on the children’s lives and leads to a huge loss for the nation.
