IMPACT OF POLLUTION PREVENTION

Environmental pollution has a declining effect and impact on our environment as a whole where all the organisms comprising of biotic as well as abiotic components are tremendously impacted in negative ways. It is the presence of the harmful concentrations of the substances which harm the resources, ecological balance and structure. This interferes with the environment and thus hampers the advancement and progress of the civilisation.

The ingredients of the pollution are seen rising from the chemical and geochemical sectors which on being released into the environment have adverse and unpleasant effects on the environment. The worst of pollutants range from metallic, organic, inorganic wastes, nuclear wastes, radio active substances, heats and gases from the thermal power plants, amongst several others. The residues of these substances pollute the environment in a drastic manner and these pollute the biosphere in the worst possible manner. The wastes largely enter into the environment through human activities which pollutes the air, water, soil, land, etc.

The prevention measures is the need of the hour. Efficiency needs to be increased properly. The conservation and prevention measures are much needed to be taken care by everyone so that environmental pollution levels can be brought down. It is important that leakage of hazardous substances must be minimised and the contaminants must be prevented from entering the mainstream.

Reducing, recycling, and reusing should become the primary mantra which would lead to pollution prevention, and shall protect the environment. The sources that lead to pollution should be prevented and eco- friendly products must be used. Programmes that would lead to treating and cleaning of the environment should be presented well to the people at industrial level as industries are a huge source of emitting effluents into the environment. Reducing the source of wastes is a better approach as it avoids creating the pollution in the first place.

There are lots of benefits of pollution prevention as it protects our environment, avoids the cleaning costs, treatment and disposal costs. This also leads to the enhancement of worker’s safety by preventing their exposure to the pollutants. This increases the creditability. This reduces the chances of health risks as well for the members of the community.

There is a urgent need to think of the better ways of the prevention of the pollution. Environmental audit must be conducted annually in order to keep a check on the facilities in order to determine their compliance with the laws, rules and regulations of the environment. The practices should include effective conservation techniques. Also, there is need to make changes in the management practices to prevent the harm to the ecosystems. Pollution prevention should not include practices which would create new risks of concern. They should be effectively designed which would be effective in implementation.
