Technology and its beneficial #impact :India’s perspective

India will be the country of young for the next few decades. It is imperative that every youth blossoms to full potential and that the potential is fully tapped for the benefit of the nation. This in turn requires that needs of our children and youth for nutrition, health, knowledge, skill, connectivity and identity are met.

As technology is for empowering  individual citizens,it will empower the country as well.Technology is crucial to ensure the security, enhancing of prosperity and enhancing identity of every individual.
Essential and beneficial condition for meeting individual needs and collective needs that should be available to each and every Indian are need to be identified and to be fulfilled. Clean air and potable water, food and nutritional security, sanitation, universal health coverage, education for all,24x7 electricity, decent habitat, safe and speedy transportation,eco-friendly conservation of natural resources etc are some of the challenges that need to be addressed by using  technology efficiently.

One of the Essential prerequisites is the development of ports, rail, highways, cold chains and other infrastructural projects that will help in boosting economy in near future. Challenges such as guaranteeing nutritional security, providing holistic education, making india non fossil fuel based, adapting climate friendly techniques, ensuring eco friendly waste management etc  are some of the issues that can be resolved effectively by developing new, efficient and eco friendly  techniques.
In order to overcome challenges that we are facing today, we need to envisage a rational assessment of capabilities and constraints of the Indian technology area. Some of the new ways to address new challenges are as follows:-

  • Innovation of new technology or making a breakthrough by applying new  technology together.
  • Adoption of technology like Obtain technology from elsewhere, modify them according to local needs and reduce dependence on other sources eg. Foreign help in biotech, health research, energy efficient buildings.
  • Identify the areas where technology is threatening and problematic and solve such issues.like problem of GM crops and its impact on environment.
  • Promoting and encouraging institutional based research activity at large scale leading to path breaking innovations.
  • Enhancement of govt. funding from current 1% to 2% of GDP.
  • Private sector participation and investment in evolving new technology that are cost effective and readily deplorable.
  • Collaboration of academia intellectual with industry to promote new ideas and its effective implementation in real world.
  • Number of full time scientists in the core research sector should be increased.
  • Funding flow to independent research agencies.
  • Govt needs to manage irregular bureaucratic  hurdles.

There is urgent need of call to action by the govt and other stakeholders.India can not afford not to be in the forefront of knowledge revolution. Also need to define timelines requiring only a few carefully defined identified players. The primarily responsibility for ecosystem design must necessarily rests with government authorities.

Taking into consideration of the nation as a whole, carefull maping of the technology roadmap of each sector would provide outlining of future technology trends which will guide the future path of development of our nation.
